I'm the best welder in Aus and I don't understand why an NVQ would be needed. Trade papers should suffice.

Sorry Mr A

Neither will make you a first class welder.

When I was studing to come out here I did NVQ 1 and 2 but could't complete the ridiculus file work for NVQ3 so I sat the City and Guilds 229 Welding and Fabrication. This was a higher qualification but did not involve reams of paperwork.

When I got out here (WA) I found it very easy to get work with my TRA as a general welder fabricator.

I could find work as a welder but only on mining equipment, flux core on buckets the size of a large house.

I do not know the proper defination of a first class welder but you are expected to pass a 6g pipe test before you start.

So if your as good a welder as Framac you should have no problem with a 6g. So if you also get TRA papers and 6g experience you should have no problem.

Keel, I came here with 6GR MIG, 6GR stick and 6G TIG and I honestly dont think they know what they're looking at when I show them. Can you weld a vert and o/head plate is the norm Standing on my fuc**ng head you uneducated piece of shit. Sometimes they piss me off when they talk to you about welding and all they have ever did is flux core on a bucket. Monkeys do that:curse:

Came out with 6G tig, 6G stick, 6G stick root flux fill and cap and 5G Stove. But still all they want is fluxing buckets.

Unless your prepared to turn up for work in a Celtic top there's no way to get on the pipework.

My bairns would have to be pretty hungry before I would stoop that low.

Keel

PS I heard they no longer tested in the restricted position. Is that true.

Queenslanders wouldn't know what a celtic top was.(I should know) Most of them were sugar cane farmers in a past life and have beards but no moustaches
6GR was still order of the day 2 years ago when I tested for job in Holland

A Celtic top, car sticker or tattoo will always help in the fab shops over here.
