Default TRA - I'M GOING GREY

When my husband and i started on this ' LET'S GO TO OZ ' millarkie i never dreamt it was going to be sooooo difficult. Like so many others he's been a chef for more years than he cares to remember, but trying to prove it, is a nightmare.

So far i have half of Tesco's stationary dept in my lounge, creating what's starting to look like Mt Everest. I dread touching for fear of an avalanche.

The joy of P60's, wage slips, menu's, personal statements and statutory declarations. The list go's on. Don't even get me started on self employed agency work, as i have'nt got a clue where to start.

However, when all's said and done, it's a means to an end and in a funny way i'm loving every second, because one day i know we will have our visa and then we will well on our way to a new life DOWN UNDER.

So now the cheeky bit any donations of advice on :-

self employed agency work
706/1/2 syllabus
and general tips

would be greatly appreciated.

It all goes towards the "GREAT GET US TO OZ RACE"

So thanks in advance

Hello and welcome

Having got my TRA last week as a chef I feel I'm an expert - NOT..........

With regards to the 706/1 & 2 I didn't submit my syllabus, just my certificates. I also included a course outline within my notes on the qualifications.
Most of my documentation was stat decs as most of the people I have worked with since I left school have moved on. I was lucky that I've been in the same job as a head chef for the last 7 years.
Most of my stat decs were based on the same template-date started(include month of the year), types of foods used, equipment used, any training taken or given, salary on arrival and departure. Just give as much detail as possible.

If I can help any more just PM me.

Where are you thinking of going to ?or are you not that far forward in your thinking yet ?

Welcome to the small world in expats. They're aren't too many chefs around.

Contact City and Guilds and they can send you a syllabus.I think they charge for them.I even got one from 1985.My advice is just put in as much info as possible especially your training and how you progressed up the ladder.

They are into their apprentiships here and won't qualify chefs unless they have had 4 years training.

Good luck with it all and welcome to the forum, you'll meet alot of crazy but helpful people.

Hiya and welcome!!

We also didn't put the syllabus in for the 706 1 or 2, just a copy of the certificates and very very detailed job descriptions, we did fail the first time for not putting enough information on so make sue you put a lot of detail in!! Good luck!!

i have alos just posted my TRA form.i am a qualified chef to nvq3 and had 6 years in trade experience.i have heard you need to send detailed employer refrences....i put salary, exact position held, how long for and equipment used.....is this detailed enough???other documents i put in were nvq3 certificate, advanced health and saftey certificate, hygeine cert and key skills, my resume and passport copy etc?ive alos heard that the bit at the end when you need to write about ur average day can make or break you?is this true???
from those who have had their applications passed is this likely to be sufficient?
thanks........ mike!
