Construction / Drainers (TRA Assessment)
Hi
Can anyone offer any advice on the TRA, I am in process of looking into Visa application and due to my trade I understand this would have to be assessed by the TRA.
My employer is happy to do full reference etc for me, but i have heard its a nightmare getting it all together.
Anyone who has undertaken this I would be grateful for you comments...
eg I have seen the form but what kind of info are they looking at from you employer?
What papers did you need to send over
Did you do it yourself or through a Agent?
How long before they give you a decision?
Any advice would be gratefully received!!
Cheers

Your employer(s) needs to detail when you started work for them, what your pay and hours were/are and provide a detailed list of what you can/have done and what tools you use for your job.
You need to provide more or less the same thing, but without the pay/hours part. Also you need to provide references (again extremely detailed ones) to cover your training/apprentiship. You'll also need to send certified copies of all your qualification (get three lots done as you need to send one with your visa application and you may also need a copy when you get here).
I can't stress enough how detailed these need to be, imagine you are explaining your job to someone who's never even heard of it before.
Here's a few links that may help you:

http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...oAustralia.htm
http://jobguide.thegoodguides.com.au/text/alpha.cfm (Find your job on there and it'll give you a basic list of what you should be able to do.)
I found that once we explained to employers how detailed it needed to be, they wanted us to type them up, they then changed things as they thought and printed them on their letterhead. All of them should be at least 3 pages long really. Some people's are 100+ pages
OH's took me 3 months to put together, then it took 4 months for the decision. However now they aim to assess them within 10 - 20 days. Yes, we used an agent!
