Soon to be in Phoenix
Hello
Just popping in to make my introductions. Myself, hubby, son of 11 and daughter of 7 will be moving to the US in a couple of months, to Phoenix AZ. We're British, but have been living in Switzerland for the last 3 years.
We're all really looking forward to the move: the kids have been doing well in the local French-speaking school but are keen to get back into English language schooling, hubby's looking forward to getting stuck into his new job role (same company, just a geographical transfer), and I can't wait to be able to work/volunteer/study/relax during the days rather than run my life around the Swiss school system of closing for 2-2.5 hours for lunch every day and sending the kids home! Oh, and I believe you have shops open past 5pm and even on a Sunday... bliss...
We don't have a firm date as yet - just waiting for the HR wheels to sloooooowly grind towards the L1 visa process - but are hoping to be over for the start of the school year or just after. In the meantime, I'm keeping busy by homeschooling the kids to up their written English skills, chucking out anything a bit dusty that I clearly haven't touched for months, and running endless keyword searches on this site and city-data.com.
Looking forward to taking part, and thanks for all the helpful advice I've learned so far.

Welcome to BE and good luck with the move!
A handful of BE folks in the Phoenix area, so I'm sure you'll be able to get a lot of good info about what to do and see etc...but also check out the wiki as there is a wealth of decent general info
