Default residence In france

Hi all, I have just subscribed.

I've had a house in Charente, France for 20 years.

I retire in November and would like to live there.

I would like to obtain a carte de sejour given Brexit etc.

Advice welcome about how to go about things including health etc

Any advice very welcome

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!
At the present time (pre-Brexit), you have to have resided in France for 5 years before being able to apply for a Carte de Séjour. Depending on the outcome of Brexit, you're likely to be considered as an non-EU citizen, who will have a different type of Carte de Séjour.
If you're in receipt of a UK State Pension, you ask the DWP for the "S1" form, which is the key to coverage by the French Social Security System. It will reimburse 70% of medical expenses, and retirees are recommended to take out a Mutuelle (Top-Up insurance) to cover the remaining 30%, since they tend to need medical attention more often... This arrangement may change, depending on the terms of Brexit, no one can say at present....
Post again in the France forum and some one will give official links to explain the various CdSs.
