New to the forums and new to the process!

Hi guys,

I just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself before diving into the forums.
My name is Conor and I am presently a resident of Northern Ireland seeking information and guidance on the immigration process into the United States.

Truth be told, I am actually only a fourteen year old but taking into account the fact that my family are considering making this move (none of whom have any ability to operate a piece of simple technology whatsoever), it has been elected my job to make inroads into finding out more about it through the interwubz. Much of what my family ask me will be relayed to you in the form of threads and posts, however the said posts (and the research that forms the basis of them) are composed entirely by me, so one could argue that this is not really a shared account.

All complications aside, it's a relief to find somewhere on the internet where the mind-numbing jargon used by the USDHS/CIS is broken down and translated into layman's terms, served with a side of British humour and sarcasm.

Excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge on the subjects I may discuss throughout my time here - I like to think I am knowledgeable on several topics, but unfortunately immigration is not one of them - so please bear with me. I'm sure you have heard it all before which gives me all the more reason to appreciate any time you may devote to helping me! :)

Thanks in advance for all of your assistance!

Hi Connor,

Welcome to BE. I'm sure you've already been browsing the forums so are already aware of the layout. I would suggest your first port of call would be to read these two pages in our wiki.

Wow Conor, that's excellent writing for a 14 year old! And with real punctuation ;)

I know little of the immigration process but wish you and your family a welcome to the US in advance.

@Sue - Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I've been looking at the "Pulaski" sections of the Wiki, and they have been nothing short of extremely informative!

@MostlyYank - Thank you ever so much, and I look forward to seeing you around the forums. :)

I am very new in Perth, uk. Is there any expat coffee mornings in the city of Perth where I can meet new friends.

Hello and a big welcome to BE.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Rosemary
