Hello and welcome Andy,

You may want to post in the Oz forums, and we have no shortage of expats there who are both helpful and generous with their knowledge.

Kelli28, Sherlock Holmes and newjersey are the concierges for the Australia Forums, and they can act as your tour-guides should you need help finding your way about there.

Cresta57, Monneypenny20, Sonlymewalter and Alfresco are the Australia moderators whom you can contact for all other concerns or problems, or admin (Sue).

I recommend you look over BE Wiki ... it can be rather helpful. And there may also be relevant information in the stickied threads at the top of every forum index-page.

Jerseygirl will be along in no time to welcome you properly, but until you are better welcome greetings from Ontario, Canada ... and good luck with your future in Oz!

With every good wish,
Christian

Hello and a big welcome to BE.

Excellent information can be found in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading.

Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font.

Please contact me if I can give you any further help.

Hi Andy

Welcome to BE.
You definitely need to check onto the Australia forum which Christian has given you a direct link to in his post above. There is an immigration forum there which is full of all the necessary information to help with the visa process and all the other bits and bobs that need doing before the actual move.
Don't forget to introduce yourself on the thread called the Barbie - thats where all the friendly fun stuff goes on, and where you will find lots of others who have either made the move or are in the process of. I am sure you will find plenty of folks from Perth in there who can help with advice and tips to make the whole move go smoothly.

We also have a forum for electricians which you will finding in the 'Working abroad by profession' section. You will find this by clivking the 'forum index' button on the pink bar at the top of this page, scroll down past the list of countries and it is in the next section - double click on 'electricians' and you're in. There is a job adverts section there as well, but in the main you will be able to chat directly with other expats who are working as electricians in OZ, and may be able to point you in the right direction.

That's the informative bit, which just leaves me to wish you and Wendy all the best with your move to the sunshine

Dread - x
