Move to Australia
Hi I'm new to site and was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on emigration. My husband is employed as a Air condition/refrigeration engineer here in Scotland, we would love to take our family for a new life in Australia preferably Queensland. A few starting questions I have, do I really need an agent to help with visa application? Is it advisable to holiday first before making big move to check out towns, schools etc, Where/how do we find employers that would be willing to sponsor, any help with this would be so much appreciated

Hi and welcome to BE
best place to ask these questions would be in the Australian forum
http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54
and check out the Immigation website http://www.immi.gov.au/Pages/Welcome.aspx
not sure about OZ but for NZ most people do the applications themselves

Re: Move to Australia
Hello there and to the forum. I see you've now found the Aussie section of the forum, so will leave you to it. They're a good and helpful bunch in there. You'll get lots of info.
If you've never visited Australia before, it certainly makes sense to do that. What if it turns out that you hate the place? Not saying you would, but places are not always what they seem, and we are all different. I would say exactly the same for where I live in Malaysia. I love it but not everyone would.
Happy planning.

Re: Move to Australia
Hi fergielyns, I'm new to this forum too and just joined as I am in kind of a similar position to you - Live in Scotland and looking to move to Australia, particularly Adelaide. I was there early last year and I just fell in love with it. I have quite a few different groups of friends in Adelaide so that's why I've chosen to move there. What about you? why Queensland? As per the advice of other posters here I am about to jump onto the Australian forum now, good luck with your application!
