British Spark trying to get license
Hi guys, im in the same boat as so many other people with trying to get down to the actual straightforward process of obtaining your Grade A australian license in the quickest time without having to go through the process of being an apprentice again for a few months to a year.
I was given sponsorship on a 457 working for a mining company and during my application for my visa the option of 'have you got a TRA number' came up to which i answered no. The visa was still granted.
Now that I am here in Queensland, and my HR manager did absolutely nothing with organising my license, i have been left with doing it myself (as she is no longer with the company)
I have read in different threads about ppl going to south australia and doing their Peer Course (regs course) then applying to the TRA for ATRC, then finally transferring the license over to a queensland grade a license. I initially tried getting some info through VETASSES as i was concerned with the min exp required as I was a mature apprentice....well 21 in november 2007 and qualified in october 2010. I addressed my concern with them over the phone and said the minimum exp is a guideline and that as long as your training is relevant and are undergoing the correct courses it will be fine. But after reading about the time scale and log book, I saw that doing it via the ATRC was the better option.............but it this too good to be true??!!!
Can someone please help me with this as I am on paper here as a TA even though I am doing sparky work and my luck, that site work has picked up and they want electricians to go out there but we cant go on site without our sparky license. That could have been some serious money made
I have done my generic induction for access to the mines known as standard 11 so thats one thing out of the way. My next plan was to get the Peer course done.
Please feel free to drop any advise guy

Re: British Spark trying to get license
Hi there and welcome to B.E.
Thanks for posting in the welcome inn first
Have a look here in the working abroad forum, electricians section and there are quite a few threads about this sort of thing.
If you can't find the answer in there, you could try posting your question in the main Australia section here.
Enjoy B.E.
