British-Irish with Canadian... Self employment/Remote working
Hello,
I've lurked about here a while, the forum has been a great help with me finding stage 1 of being with my man -- how to live together outside the UK, help with finding uk marriage visas too. This year I also got my Irish Citizenship, now wondering if that was a good idea or not!
We get married next weekend in Scotland, our hope at the moment is live in Ireland next year /2015 and stay there till he has Irish residency...then perhaps go back to the UK. Or maybe Canada??
Our big challenge is around my self-employment (osteopath) and currently low income, and questions around work visas for him.
Right now he works on a contract for a US company, and is still as US resident. We argued it was fine for him to work remotely for them in mainland Europe. We know it's not ok in the UK. Now we are working out if he can remote work in Ireland fine till he gets the Stamp 4.
Hoping that now I've been through a few things I might be able to contribute something
Best
Catherine

I'm not sure if this crossed over from introduction to questions... sorry if so, actually most of my life has been taken up by immigration issues the last year there's not much else to say! Really what I actually like is good food, good nature, and a life of enjoyment. I really love my osteopathy work too so want to keep living in countries I can practice in

Irish citizenship was a good idea for sure. Can't go wrong with a second citizenship. Especially when descent passes down infinitely vs UK citizenship which only passes to the first generation born abroad. I assume your husband is Canadian?
