For some odd reason single tickets invariably cost more than return tickets. Buy a return ticket and just don't return!

By the way, the only "deals" you are likely to find for travel at Christmas involve paying two or three times the usual discount fare!

I booked a flight recently on discountflights.com for 25th of December - if you want to travel on Xmas or the day after you can get pretty good deals - most airlines don't have many customers on those days.

BA had a sale on earlier in the week - not sure if it still is. They were advertising 100 bucks to london, checked out to see if we could do cheaper than we already had for xmas, and it was just over 300 return including tax (ex houston), which I didn't think was bad. check out ba.com to see if they're still there.
