Rockgurl's postings are enough of an eye-opener as to what healthcare is like here.

This scenario is replicated times and times again, with countless drugs and millions of patients. End result: an obscene amount of waste of $$$.

Easy - you tweak a little isomer and - hey presto! - omeprazole becomes esomeprazole!

"Nexium is derived from Prilosec (omeprazole). Prilosec contains a racemic mixture of the D- and L- forms (isomers) of omeprazole. Nexium contains only one of the isomers. Both Prilosec and Nexium are known as proton pump inhibitors."

Lifeisgreat,
Yes I work more hours here. I am guilty of falling into the rat race trap but I am pushing back and find that as long as the work I do is quality then if I leave on time no one minds.
Yes, I get pissed off that I only get 3 weeks a year (which many tell me is good) and that I spend 2 of that visiting my family in the UK so that only leaves me 1 week to go somewhere 'new'!
What have I found different in the working culture? Well I find I find I am surrounded by anal retentive, detail oriented , picky, pricky, assholes on a day to day basis. Can't help feeling it was all so much more laid back in the UK. But that was 10 years ago....and when I talk to my friends in the UK I find they seem to feel the belt tightening and I give them a few years before things follow suit - at least in Londinium. Oh...and I miss everyone bunking off and going to the pub for 2 hours on a Friday.....these days I am lucky if I get a full 1 hour lunch.
