Winter Storm Warning

Well, should I go to work tomorrow or not ???

Looks like most of the snow could fall between 9am and 3pm tomorrow. Would be a bollocks to make it back to the station only to find my car stuck in a drift (high winds expected too).

Perhaps staying at home is the best option, though tomorrow was shaping up to be quite an interesting day.

Decisions, decisions, decisions

so does that cost you vaca days or will you actually work from home? I have my home pc setup so I can work directly so I'll simply be working as usual just not in the office.

It sure does. That's why I'm at home looking out of the window watching the snow fall rather than sitting in a 3 hour traffic jam.

No - I would be fine to take it off but as there are a few interesting meetings scheduled for today I struggled into the office - just home I can make it home - have a shovel in the car just in case.

Re: Winter Storm Warning

Just looked out my home office window....can usually see down the end of the road to the old Route 66(about 200 yards),but right now it's snowing so hard, and is very windy, can just barely see about 30 yards down the street.....what a miserable day..........husband is home with flu,and my throat is getting very scratchy..just my luck!........Keep warm and safe all......Sophia
p.s.Our electric snapped off and straight back on as well, just as my computer fired up this morning,so it'll probably go off later in the day!

only emergency toilet paper supply runs;)
Icy rain now, but roads are driveable, so not snowed in. Calls from local news channels to try and stay OFF the roads because they are dangerous.

Its not bad here, but we're expecting 6-8 inches around here, and a foot further up north...everyone being allowed to VPN if they wish tomorrow...doesn't help me, because I can't dial in for some reason

Re: Winter Storm Warning

Well I'm glad I stayed at home and will do the same tomorrow. Just looked out the back of our house and theres about a 3 foot drift in our garden. The wife wanted to park inside and it took me 3 goes to get out of the garage, there was about 5 inches up against the door and not much less on the road. They are quoting some crazy numbers like 14 inches by midnight and another 10 before the morning commute. Not sure if I believe that though, we'll see.

Our winter storm warning in Chicago got extended to 9 am tomorrow. Huzzah...

I'll have a very fun time shovelling the driveway, I'm sure. Of course the wind has blown the snow all over my side, and hubby on the other side has a small SUV with A4WD.

Thankfully I work from home, though... :p

I cannot imagine people actually driving along Lakeshore Drive today.

And my patio this morning. That fence is about 6.5 feet.

Re: Winter Storm Warning

Seems the state is in a tizzy...metro west area, only got a couple inches, nothing really, and the roads are worse than the dodgy back roads in maine...and err...I'm the only one that made it to work so far..and the VPN is knackered, and everyone is ringing me to find the tech guys who both haven't come in...so err...yeah...I don't know why I'm getting called, my extension is one of the last ones in the list.

no snow blower, cos we get one in April when our friends in Westlake move to Hawaii:ohmy:

Duncan Roberts Feb 14th 2007 3:00 am

Re: Winter Storm Warning

I don't know what good a snow blower would have been to be honest. The guys that our neighborhood employs to clear the snow turned up with one and gave up after 1 pass on the road behind the garage. They also gave up after about 20 minutes of shoveling! At least they did the front so I can get the door open and not wade through 3 feet of snow on the path.

Hubby tried to clear out in front of our garage and then luckily our farmer neighbor came and plowed out driveway. NFW I am shovelling 250 feet of driveway!
