Just back from Possum Kingdom, having spent a beautiful day on the lake on a pontoon boat - managed to miss getting busted by the lake cops as we left Devil's Gate because a) it was Easter Sunday and b) we'd run out of beer

We'll have to check out Broken Bow. We have spent many fun days down at Dinosaur Valley and the Fossil Rim Safari Park (we had a season ticket for a year, so we went more times than was sane). Next weekend will be spent up to our knees in mud, I think, in the North Sulphur Springs River(bed) collecting dinosaur teeth... of which there are surprisingly many!

Ah, you've spoiled it now!

We've got some friends live down near Nasa (he's some sort of scientist over there) - they have 3 astronauts live in their street. Kind of a let down to see one of them going to work in his old Ford Taurus.....sort of expected something a bit more flash from a spaceman...

Yes it is- I often described the wild flowers there loke an orchestra of color... one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. And so unlike any previous mental picture of texas that I ever had. Great place to live.

We have had two dry winter/springs in a row so the wildflower bloom is next to nil this year. I have heard it is supposed to hit 98 this week before it cools down for a little while. The weather here is never "average" -- you can combine the numbers into an average, yes, but the variation from "average", especially in winter/spring, is pretty high.

I'm so not ready for 98 F!

I've never been to Austin, I've heard such nice things about the place that I'm afraid I'll actually be disappointed when I see it....we almost moved outside of the city close to Lake Travis several years ago but it all fell through, we're still in Houston. It took a few years but I don't hate the place like I used to, I've succumbed sometimes I do get frustrated during the springtime when the weather is gorgeous and you want to do something outdoors only to be very limited when it comes to green areas and you spend most of your time in traffic or trying to find a bloody parking spot ....this is why we usually stay home and laze in our garden
