Thanks, I am in a bit of a mess, just looked at my British passport and noticed it expired a while ago. Planning a trip to the UK. Out of curiosity does anyone know what happens to a British citizen arriving in the UK with an expired British passport? Maybe this is the wrong forum for this question.

I just tried to use the spell check, but it won't load. I must have a setting wrong on my web-browser. Excuse spelling errors. Just not my day today.

Hm - my GUESS would be that they probably would let you in.

Surely you wouldn't even get out of the US with an expired passport, would you?

I don't think anyone has ever checked the validity of my passport on leaving the US! The just check the bio page and take the I-94.

But personally I would be reluctant to chance it...

No. But I had what initially looked like a reverse problem when I was leaving the UK (for the USA), for some reason I was asked in the UK airport (Heathrow I think) why I was traveling to the USA, I did not think this was a valid question, but I guess the airline has to be more sure of reasons for traveling. So I said because I live there permanently, and here's my GC to prove it! The guy took a look at it, and told me it had expired. I was in shock, I can tell you! I was sure it had another month or so to run, and I wondered what would happen to me on arrival in the USA with an expired GC. I asked to look at my GC and realized that he was looking at the date the wrong way round ... day/month instead of month/day ... I guessed he was new in the job. I still can't spell check, I may have to reboot my computer. Maybe the pop-up blocker is blocking or my machine is out of memory and can't run it. A reboot may be in order. Let's take a poll on that shall we.
