I live in Lincoln Park, Northside of Chicago and i like it here, although i don't know any Brits in the area there are a number of bars that are English and actual English people do go there. There is also a Meetup Group for Brits in Chicago that meetup once a month for Events etc.

In my fairly limited experience the british population is spread out. With no (little) language issue and the british reserve we don't seem to want to live near our fellow countrymen.

-There are big Chinese, Italian, Czech, Russian, Greek, Lithuanian, and Polish neighborhoods in Chicago..A bunch of white neighborhoods, and some huge Black ones..You want to stay in your own neighborhoods at night..I grew up in Marquette Park. If you came into Marquette Park late at night and weren't from there? You got your ass kicked. So if you don't know where you are in Chicago- You might want too cool it with your "bloody hells", and "Jolly Goods"

All I can tell you is that if some Malcolm Meriwether type wondered into our neighborhood late at night when I was a youngster? He would have staggered out the neighborhood black n blue with his pockets turned inside out. And Marquette Park hasn't changed..Black people don't go in there. They just wont. It's still a crime free zone surrounded by the worst of the worst. Thats due to their aggressive neighborhood watch program that has been passed down from generation to generation there.
