Whats the insurance prices like?
Hi all.
What are the insurance prices like in the US, are they higher than in the UK?
Do my no claims bonus help or will I have to start fresh?
I have been driving for 17 years now, what would a price be on a 2014 V6 mustang, no go, or should stick to something normal like a ford fusion.
If I could afford I would have a mustang, just a bit bigger than my current 1.0 toyota aygo, but have had bigger cars before.
Any info would be most appreciated?

You will be treated as a new driver. Some folks have got their no claims recognised, some not.

Piece of string Q....though I do suggest the wiki, or the million of other threads on the subject.
Actual figures will all depend on levels of coverage and location.
Budget $1K per six month and be happy if it's less.

Premiums can vary wildly by location. Also, what coverage is being obtained. Sometimes, fairly low liability limits combined with a general "umbrella" might save some money.

I guess I would love a mustang as a car, but if it is gonna be alot then then I would have to result back to a ford fusion or honda civic or something. My wife took all my no claims off me when we got married as I had a motorbike at the time. So I probably only have a year or so now. I have been driving longer than her so my age helps me at the moment.

Re: Whats the insurance prices like?
When I came over here, I got insured through State Farm, who my USC wife had been with for a long time. She deals through a broker, and explained to them I had 20+ years driving experience and so on in the UK - now, it may, or may not have helped but my premium on a VW GTi was around $360 for 6 months. I traded that car in for a Dodge Charger V6 and the premium hardly moved (and this is in the space of less than 2 years plus my wife pays a lot more for her SUV).
But this is, as others have said, is nothing to go by. I think though, that talking to a good broker might help, as opposed to doing it online - I got quotes online from the likes of Geico, and the premium was about 4 times as much.
