Re: What are your working hours?
[QUOTE=Chrissywissy100;7589497]some companies (and that's not many) expect you to take 30mins for lunch, which you are paid for. QUOTE]
Will vary state to state. In California the 30 minute break was a requirement under state law for full-time employees, and it was unpaid. (I was always hourly, so laws may differ for management or those on a salary.) |

:ohmy: wow...wish they did that in our hotel!!!! We've also been getting 38 hour schedules so that when we stay late (as we invariably do) it doesn't run into overtime  |

After 5 years it goes up to 10. After 10 years it becomes 12!!!! In reality it is a small business. The vans have to be working and earning not sittin around. But it's not a career. It pays OK for now but as my skill set improves I'll look more seriously at going it alone though may have to wait for some economic improvement to risk that. |

The insurance offered in my district is excellent and very inexpensive as is all of the other schools I've worked in Ohio. When I worked in an urban school my health care was free if I chose the HMO option....but that was 10 years ago.

Interesting article...I like "Having the time off is one thing but being able to afford to take it is another thing entirely, and in this department Americans score well. U.S. citizens are a third wealthier per capita than their counterparts on the other side of the Atlantic, but they earn this the hard way."
It's a cultural difference. |

But I could shut the firm down for 10 days at xmas and it would not be a problem ;-) It's a dream for now but I'm keeping an open mind. |

There's a no smoking policy where I work. Can't even smoke outside, or even in your own car in the parking lot. |
