Please can someone tell me what on earth is that vile looking brown 'meat' stuff, (looks more like very old leather), in vacumn seal packaging that they sell in petrol garages?

You know the stuff... it's just next to bags of 'pork rhind chunks!' Bleeeeeeeeeeeeurgh

That's Beef Jerky.

never tried it, have no real desire to either, but my stepson eats it.

I really cannot understand this nations fixation with peanut butter and cinnamon.

You must be talking about jerkey. It's not great, but not bad. Kind of like a very dry Pepperami.

I haven't found anything I truley hate with a passion yet. Except for anything with cinnamon in it and unfortunately these crazy yanks seem to be all about putting cinnamon in everything. I used to like apple pie.

Any beer with the world 'light' 'low carb' 'ultra' or 'bud' in the name comes second though.

The grits I had in Georgia tasted like old bathroom grouting. .

I love cinnamon and have no problem with it, but I don't like the fact that absolutely everything you buy here is laced with sugar...even the bread. The food here tastes so artificial. I long for Waitrose and the marvellous quality of Marks & Spencer.

Deep fried Twinkies that they were selling on Freemont street in Vegas last week. And of course, the infamous deep fried Snickers bars that you can get at every state fair.

I don't think I'd like beef jerky but I do like the fish equivalent (no, it's not an American food).

I love anything with (real) peanut butter but am not fond of anything to do with cinammon.

I think grits are something you either love or hate. Personally, I love eating it. I've not yet eaten it for breakfast (which is when it normally appears) but I do make it to go with grilled meats and fish.

Grits are a southern institution and since I like polenta, the Italian equivalent, it's no wonder I like grits.

I'm a USC and my husband is UKC and i've been here in england for a year and I'm still not into this english food. I dont eat gizzards back home believe me, but what about this tripe(cow stomach lining) and lamb brains, what is that all about? lol and everything goes in a pie here, but there is a place called Jungle Jims in the usa there is a chain of them and they sell food from all over the world, inports, and they sell tetly's tea bags and McVi's and all the sweets from england, oxo and bristo, pork pies and yorksures, oh just everything. Look in the phone book and see if there is one around ya. My husband loves most american food. He hates the bread but really I cant tell the difference. lol but I really have had to shop and make due here in order to make american food. lol but anyhoo just thought I'd share.

With Passover coming up soon our local supermarkets have filled their aisles with Kosher food items.

The sight of gefilte fish in the jars looks very unappetising to me; I wonder if it's eaten hot or cold?

I also wonder what the 'matzoh' balls are in matzoh ball soup? (which also doesn't 'tickle my fancy')

Another thing I couldn't possibly bear to eat is the candied yams with marshmallows on as an accompanyment to the roast turkey at Thanksgiving......yuck.

Pickled red beet eggs, a Pennsylvania Dutch specialty that my wife loves but I abhor.
