For me it was meeting my American husband 16 years ago in Britain and moving with him. If it had not been for that chance meeting my life would be so incredibly different right now and I would probably still be living in Britain.

Re: What brought you to the USA?
I went out one night
And danced with a man...
No stockings or candy
But he was American
We talked on the phone
He called me his Chic
No one had called me that since 86
I introduced him to Yorkshire pudding
We went bowling and I gave him a drubbing
And then he told me he had to go home
And i worried he would leave me alone
I never wanted to come to the states
But one can learn to love what one thought one would hate
I'm giving it a go in the best way I can
So what brought me to the States, yes it was a man!

I married a USC in 2001, he moved the the UK where we llived until July last year. We moved here after much persuasion by the in-laws, actually not sure why we anymore, it seemed like a good idea at the time. But I'm definitely not staying for good.

Re: What brought you to the USA?
Spent a year in Munich (2000-2001) as part of my degree and met a nice american guy who was also spending a year there. we carried on the relationship for about another 4 years and then i recently moved over to the states to get married and live here.
Don't know if we are staying here forever, i would be quite happy to go back to the UK.

Does he (you??) have to pay overseas fees though? :scared:
What about his GC - any risk of losing that (or is he dual?)
These are the things that worry me at the moment as one of my little darlings wants to back to uni in the UK...

Particularly at the (post)graduate level, the US system has a level of flexibility, resources, and financial support that many UK universities do not have.
