I've taken to saying 'I'm good' instead of 'I'm fine' whenever someone asks me how I am..I cringe every time I do it.

Yes, it's funny because the abbreviation for Statistics is "stats", not "stat"

I did get a comment on one of my peer teaching reviews that saying "guys" is sexist. So, I asked, "what would you suggest I say instead?" ....... silence .....

Bloody 'Aluminum' innit and 'Faucets'. Although I've no choice but to use American words for building products and it doesn't seem strange now. Going back to the UK for Christmas should be the fun part, my mates ripped into me last time for saying "Garage" (Ga-Raj), they thought I'd suddenly become posh. Also I've taken to saying TomAto, which is worrying

I pointed out that I was using "ladies" as a gender-specific equivalent to "gentlemen", not "lords", and that I certainly wouldn't take offence if someone called me a "gentleman".
And here I was thinking "ladies" was more polite and complimentary than "women" ....

Apparently the aluminum thing is our fault. Thats how we used it in Britain - passed it over to the old colonies - and then changed it - they didnt bother here. Of course that is probably a load of old bollox.
