W-8BEN request from my bank
Been in the US just round 8 months now.
Out of the blue my bank (TD) sent letters asking for this form by the end of the year.
Wanted to check, is that the right form for my situation?
I’m FTE and US tax resident under a 5yr visa and plan to stay for the near future at least, if not longer.
Is this form the right form? I think it may not be since I’m under US tax, what should I do instead regarding this? Thanks!

US citizens or residents don't file W-8BEN. I assume this is a request from your UK bank.

If you are a US tax resident, the correct form is a W-9.

I’ll pop in and speak to them, get a W9 done instead...
Thanks

Re: W-8BEN request from my bank
For the record I popped into my local branch and it was indeed wrong as suspected.
Filled out the W9 forms for both checking and credit accounts with them there and then and it was all sorted.
