That's why I am still keeping school as a backup and putting into the motion raising money from my house in the UK.
Well good luck with it and all that
Certianly a hassle ain't it...

L1B and L2 which run out next month. Extension has been applied for but USCIS have requested loads of further information and husband's company are taking ages to send it. Plus our driving licences run out the day our visas run out so I hope we get an answer one way or another soon.

How did you manage to go from L1B to L1A? Apparently my husband's original visa should have been L1A but we were lead to believe that once in the US you can't change from L1B to L1A.

Is this some new patriot crap, or is this a state-by-state thing? My licences (OH, OR, NM) have never been tied to immigration status.

NJ DMV changed it's name to NJ MVC because apparently a new name makes the system works better

When we first arrived here in 2002 we were told that a new federal law had been passed which prevented anyone without a valid visa getting a licence.
Instead of going to our local DMV we had to go to Trenton and it took 2 full days of waiting in several lines before we got our licences. Hopefully next time we won't have to go to Trenton, scary place especially as we were probably the only english speaking people in the whole place that day.
