Things will fall into place. Problems always seem bigger than they are when you are trying to solve them.

and they are often made worse by poor decisions.

Something that a lot of people don't consider when they decide to AOS from the VWP, especially with an overstay, what would they do if a relative or friend got sick/died etc....

I see you point, I wouldn't like to be in her shoes.. but I am having my own problems with the US Embassy and I feel that I need to keep calm and have immense patience in order to remain sane.

There is always a way out, right?

Yup, move to the UK or another country, thus avoiding USCIS and many headaches

You all seem to agree on that but it has taken me a whole year to finally get my visa (CR1) and now that I finally had it.. well.. it has been stolen, together with the big myterios envelope, before going to Colorado how long do you reckon that I'll be here now? Bear in mind that I called them with what I believed to be an emergency on the 27th of September (the day before I was due to fly out and meet my husband) and I was told that all I could do was send an email and wait for an answer. I wated 8 days for an answer and all they said then was "explain how you travelled to spain without your passport". Now I am waiting again..

Are you still able to travel to the UK using just your Spanish ID card?

Trust us when we say that there is NO immigration process as hard as moving here. You need loads and loads of patience. The wheels do move slower than most other places (unless you're stuck in South africa wanting to move to Canada - 4 year wait..sucks big time!)

Yes, most countries in Europe do have ID cards but US immigration has never heard of them apparently.

I'll keep my fingers cross and pray that I can spend xmas with my hubby, I haven't seen him since May

6 yrs ago when my usc hubs was living with me in the uk he had his laptop etc etc stolen from the boot of his car including his usa passport which contained his ILR stamp so hubs went to the immigration office in croydon and filed some more papers to get his stamp reinstated....all in all it took about two months and so hope yours is as quick.....good luck

I also had my laptop stolen.. I had it all together; laptop, passport, envelope because it was going to be my hand luggage for the US. I already have a new passport, the Spanish Consulate was really helpful. I just need to hear from the US Embassy telling me what to do to get my stamp and envelope again.

That is good advise Anabella from Trubrit, keep phoning them everyday.
I remember when i was pestering them a few years ago about our daughter's visa which they couldn't find.... then the lady on the phone said "Oh, here it is, it was hiding underneath my knitting" ........
