Try the free version of AVG from Grisoft. I work in a college tech support and we put it on any student PCs which don't have an antivirus program.

Oh, give me a break.

In a former life I was a Mac LAN administrator in a medical department of a major US University. It's not an accident that they have gone from Apple via UNIX to Microsoft operating systems.

I love this clip:

p.s. In case you were wondering. The reason why so few viruses these days are written for the Mac OS is that, statistically speaking, ALMOST NOBODY USES IT.

Back in the late 80s, when I first worked on the QE2 as Computer Systems' Officer and the Food & Beverage Department was a semi independent Mac club, we had a plethora of Mac viruses. They went away as fast as the Macs did.

Once we had a universal, properly protected, networked PC suite we had no virus or spyware problems at all.

.............and that's the God-damned truth.

Sure - like Steve Jobs is ego-free........

What I write has nothing to do with Bill Gates ego - I have never met him but I am very experienced in using his OSs as well as Mr. Jobs versions (prior to OSX) and SCO-UNIX. I have been an administrator on all of the above. I have also dabbled with Be-OS but not yet Linux.

I am interested to know what purpose/function you use your Mac for.

Avast is less of a resource hog though, and nicer GUI, also quicker scanning...worth having a peak at
