Just got an email from Virgin, they are adding one flight per day from ORD-LHR starting April next year. Press release on Web site (but link currently broken) - http://preview.tinyurl.com/yn62k4

They used to fly that route for a couple of years before...9-11, 11-9

Oooh bad time of year to arrive! It's especially brutal very early this year. I think the high today was about 20.

I flew Virgin to LHR every time I went, when they still did those flights. Definitely my preferred airline, given half a chance. Once got a return flight for a week in March (lovely time of year in England, yeah right) for $370 including tax. Wonderful! That was in 2000.

I'm still (im)patiently waiting for a carrier to go from ORD to Stansted...

Hmmm, that could be interesting (although i did promise myself never to fly virgin again, since a disastrous flight). Having been chatting w/ OH about possibility of driving to Chicago to catch a transatlantic flight next year, so good to have options.

Thanks for the heads up - we always used to fly Virgin back to the UK from ORD and were so disappointed when they closed the route. They always looked after us so well.

Naah, what's really needed is a West Coast to Manchester service. Other than an occasional charter, I don't think there are any direct flights from the west coast to anywhere but London Well, there's Dublin I suppose...

God yes, after several years of flying here my parents and sisters have vowed to only ever fly to London and then out to Dallas because they can't stand having to go through Chicago O'Hare, even though it means they often end up paying more, it seems they never get through ORD without either losing suitcases, or missing their flights because the TSA staff there are so incompetent.
