A lot of the slots have gone to coinless payouts, where the machine actually prints out a redeemable(sp) ticket that you can either cash in or feed back into the slots. That works great when your waiting for a hopper fill on a 200 nickle win that takes the attendents 20 minutes to go grab a bag of change. But it also sucks if half the casino is ticket payout and the other half is old machines that won't except them. Thats mainly in the older casinos though.

No money can be transfered from players hands directly to the dealers hand, that way it's easier for the eye in the sky to follow everything.

Thats not right - you can play cash on any table game in Vegas - usually just one hand as they will ask you to get chips - but if you want one hand or one spin 'money play' will be greatfully accepted - clearly your payout if you win would be in chips!

The "spin" you talk of, is that the big wheel with various cash ammounts around the outside and a table in front with the same cash amounts that you lay your money down on? If so, thats slightly different. It also has the worst odds of any bet in the casino.

Hey Big D. I consulted a few of my Vegas buds on a Vegas board and money bets do seem to be happening a little more than I thought. So I stand corrected.

Stratosphere - Any of you lot have the balls to go on the ride which is outside on top of a skyscraper hotel?
Downtown Vegas - older and seedier than 'the strip'
Worth a walk on the strip just to see the Mirage volcano & Treasure Island pirate ship battle, The fish tank behind the lobby in the Mirage is worth a peek.
Hoover dam is a day trip from Las Vegas, worth a visit to see a feat of modern engineering and some great art deco design.
Hope this is still relevant as it's been a couple of years since I've been.

I also enjoyed the Voodo lounge and Bikinis (£20 wrist band for all you can drink!). sadly I think Bikinis is closed.
We used to use Ellis Island casino for early morning Steak and Eggs I seem to remember it being $3 with discounts. but I guess you don't want to go there.
There are so many great places in Vegas, you''ll need plenty of money and don't expect to get much sleep.

To be honest I have little interest in roulette, craps, slots, etc.
Like the odd hand of blackjack but the only game for me is poker (the proper stuff, none of that caribbean stud crap) - just not sure if I'll have the time for any games.
Pimpbot, seeing as you seem very familiar with vegas do you know if any casino's run sit and go single table tournaments or even multitable freezeouts - I'd be comfortable with a reasonably large entry fee, though for the purposes of this weekend $100 would prob be spot on.
Cheers in advance
