We stayed at the monte carlo, very very nice and pretty reasonable price. Use the monorail, found that invaluable during the day, however at night it closes before we planned to go back to the hotel. If you stay on the strip and don't mind walking, shouldnt be a big issue and there are always cabs. Buffets were awesome and economical, mainly stuck to the one in the monte carlo. The one trick a bunch of us used (mostly 20-somethings who's mission was to get fairly drunk) was before going out and going clubbing or to whatever form of entertainment, we would sit at the penny slots and play, and take advantage of the free drinks from the cocktail waitresses, only put a max of $5 in the machines, lasted a long time with the penny games. We made sure to tip well though so that waitress would keep coming back with our free drinks, once we all had a nice buzz going we went on to wherever we were planning to go, more serious gambling, dancing or whatever else fun times.

I was handed the full $1800 winnings, and the W-2G. They didn't withhold anything. I knew when they took my US SSN it will be reported, but its possible to have a SSN without being an citizen, alien, permanent resident etc. I still haven't paid tax on it, I'll pay when I file my taxes next. The damn thing is on my refrigerator door, as I am paranoid I'll forget to declare it.
I think if you're "foreign" the casino withholds the taxes and I also think the rate is high too...

There's special rules on table games though, but I doubt anyone pys taxes on those as you have to win something stupid to pay tax.

So you didn't read the part of my post where it said they will automatically deduct 30% of your winnings should you be from outside the US?

If you're taking a cab from the airport to the strip, make sure you tell the driver not to "take the tunnel". It could ad as much as $10 to the ride if you do. I wouldn't say it's a con, but it's pretty close if you're staying anywhere north of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Correct...they tried it on with us last year. Also make sure you have plenty of $1 bills...because the cabbies never have change!

That's my game too... I was on a cruise ship earlier this year and one woman had a 45 minute run on the dice Unfortunately, and obviously, I couldn't get a place on the table but the players cleaned the table out.

We have a friend in Chicago, who visits every so often, total genius at craps, we take him to AC and have a great time. "What did he say dear?"

Red 7 mate!

If you get a feeling about a table, go with it, if not, look around for one without Red 7 on the board of previous winning numbers, stick it on, play the once, then move on to Blackjack, way more fun & your money lasts a lot longer, so you can stay longer & drink for free!

Good luck!

I won $650 on a slot and there was never any mention of paying taxes on it, like you say "how would they know?". They hand you the money in cash and don't take any details from you!
