Using the back door
Wonder if anyone else has been aware of this. Was at an American friends house and a guy came to visit, the friends were really put out because the guy called at the back door. I have spoken to others since then who say that the back door is personal space and only very close friends or family should visit using that door.
Back home we always used the back door and many people didnt use their front one at all.
I like that I am now figuring out the differences between us that are much more subtle. Is this just a Southern thing or has anyone else experienced it?
And yes. I can see the potential for changing the emphasis of this thread!!!

On the other hand, if this is a coded thread for anal sex then I suggest you go on the pill, using the front door is okay. Friends using your back door is okay but family is definitely a northern thing.

Hm, never come across that one before.....Most homes have a privacy fence that would stop one using the back door if one felt so inclined to do so.

Re: Using the back door
Pushing your way through some one's back door unannounced is considered extremely rude in this country, not sure about the UK.
Also, learn the acronym "UFIA", I use it in daily life:

We used to only use our back door in our house in the UK....
However anyone found mooching round my back yard uninvited here - especially after dark - is unlikely to make it back out again.

Re: Using the back door
around here, well people use the backdoor as often the front is sealed up during winter and people get in the habit...and sales people, they also generally just go around to the back...
and there's no way around making any of that sound not dirty
