Not a truck, but a Dodge - we had a Durango that I used to use to tow our travel trailer. It had the 5.7 Hemi in it, and the trailer was well within the "on paper" limits, but it was a horrible tow vehicle. The transmission just couldn't handle it. I lost count of the number of times I had to stop to let it take a breather on hills....
And the back end was weirdly mobile with the trailer on the back, even with a 4-way equalizer hitch on it. I always felt like a very small dog being wagged by a very large tail when I was towing with that....very glad to see the back of it.

It's the V8 5.7L, and it is now parked in my drive

I certainly did take all the advice on board, and made an informed decision to take a risk.
