OT comment - I agree with you about business class. My mom and I were vacationing in Greece; she got very ill and we had to fly back home quickly. Although we flew to Greece on coach tickets (and still had a return coach ticket), to keep her comfortable on the flight home, I booked business class for both of us (cost an arm and a leg for a last-minute ticket, but hey it's my mom!). Wow...it was GREAT! Fortunately we had travel insurance so we got reimbursed for the cost of the 2 business class tickets, plus refunded for the coach portion we didn't use.

One other time I got bumped up (at no cost to me!) from my coach ticket to business class on a flight from JFK to Istanbul. You really do arrive a lot more rested and happy!

Business class is definitely the way to go, if you can afford it.

Absolutely -- I once traveled with a friend who was a travel agent, she flashed some credential and there we were, in business class sipping champagne! Very nice!

I never met my attorney. Probably by design otherwise poking with a hot iron may have been involved.

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: US Lawyer

This smells of E2, Florida and therefore you think scam.

But if the Lawyer will be in London anyway and you want to meet him....

Just leave your cheque book at home.

Just had confirmation cost would be air fares and hotel nights plus of course his fee.
I have passed on this suggestion.

Did you honestly expect a different scenario?

Good lord. Once you've decided what kind of visa you're going to apply for he'll presumably want to fly back to help you with the forms.

Also, I love that flying to and staying in *London* (as opposed to, say, Manchester) is supposed to be about keeping your costs *down*.

Could've charged for food, a few nice bottles of vino, and tickets to some shows. Heck, if you've got somebody willing to fly you over, why not milk it?
