Default US Job Expos in the UK

Simple question - but one I'm having no luck answering with Google's help...

Are there any job expos / career fairs in the UK attended by US companies?

I've seen one for Canadian companies, and I've seen an IT specific expo, but not a general US one...

I don't quite understand the question. There's plenty of US companies that have offices in the UK and I'm sure they attend job expos and fairs to fill positions based in the UK. Or, are you in fact looking for US companies that seek to hire Brits to work in the US? Please clarify.

Not to recruit people to work in the US if that's what you're asking?

Simple reason is that they don't need to - if they have a genuine need for somebody from the UK with specific and specialist skills then they will headhunt them in most cases.

That's what I was looking for yes.

I've seen expos for business from other countries, maybe it was too optimistic to assume US companies did the same.

I wonder how far I'd get as a UK citizen going to job expos held in America? Would nobody consider me at all without work authorisation or would it be good exposure?

It is so difficult to get you in here (unless you already work for a UK-based office of the business) that no US company in their right minds would bother with the hassle.

I wouldn't bother going to job expos - if your skills are specialist enough and your industry needs good people then just contact companies directly, or they will contact you.

Bear in mind the hassle and cost to the company of sponsoring your visa, so you need to make sure you have skills or experience that make it worth their while going through the visa process. If you don't have something that is unique then they will just hire a US citizen instead as it's much easier, quicker and cheaper! So you need to make sure that before you contact them that you have something 'wow' about you to make them consider the extra cost and hassle of hiring you over a local person.

Best of luck.
