The USA can be a very aggressive country - as has been shown by interventions eg Chile, Cuba
Aggressive yes. I would associate the term 'a very oppressive regime' with N Korea or Iraq during Saddam's rule. I certainly don't fear for my life everytime I step outside....well apart from driving on the NJ freeways.

I'm sure WASPs and similar have very little to be concerned about. I expect people of Middle Eastern origin feel differently (special registration anyone? )

As for "don't come (or get out) if you don't like it", I am sure you realise it's not as easy as that - especially for those with family here, and those who would have to fear for their safety if they were to go back.

Let's face it, the US has changed dramatically in the past 5 years. It scares me, where they seem to be heading.

People may feel safe because of their ethnic group - but what if, for example, a new British government turned against the US...

Once heard the statement:
"If Fascism ever comes to America, it will be in the guise of Patriotism"

A more accurate statement today might be:
"If Fascism ever comes to America, it will be due to Paranoia"

Mind you, both factors helped lead to the Nazi government in Germany. Most there saw no problems with their regime at the time.......

The average American does have a lot of freedoms. It's the immigrants that we shit on.

I understand what you are saying but overall I think the remark was a little OTT.
