Whatever is the latest Philips slimline model that is at Walmart will play anything and can be had for under $50. They play downloaded DivX titles too, have upscaling to 1080p and HDMI output.

Oh, if you find out the model number for that I'd be interested to know what it is. Walmart.com didn't help, and we are in the market for a new dvd player - our last one (Philips DVP5990) has a recurring fault where the HDMI output circuit fails. We've had three of this unit and it's happened on two of them.
