You can still take a tour around the Ford and Edison homes and see the Botanical Garden planted by Edison whilst he tried to find a substitute for rubber so that America did not have to rely on imported rubber from Asia.
McGregor Boulevard has several miles of Royal Palms planted by or on the behalf of Thomas Edison. It's a very beautiful road, hence the nickname for FM - City of Palms.

We are also the Winter Training home for the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins.

Oh yeah, Skowhegan, where Empire Falls was filmed also has the oldest running annual fair in the country...
And Kingsfield, the ear muffler was invented, and they have a parade...apparantly

St Augustine, NE Florida, is the oldest city in the States apparently. St Lucie and Indian River counties (just north of me) are the citrus capitals of the world. ..erm, Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade counties have the warmest coastal waters in the 49 mainland States year round.
I did hear that if California was an independent country it would have the 5th largest GDP in the world, just behind the UK.
Heres some more for other states:
"Cherry Pit Spitting Capital of the World" - Eau Claire, MI
"Clogging Capital of the World" - Maggie Valley, NC
"Barbed Wire Capital of the World " - La Crosse, KS
"Cow Chip Capital of the World" - Beaver, OK
"Cowboy Capital of the World" - Bandera, TX
"Dandelion Capital of the World" - Vineland, NJ
"Farm Toy Capital of the World" - Dyersville, IA

Oh yes, that would be the ones that play in the "World" Series?

Claims to fame for Palmyra, NY...
- One of only two towns in the USA to have four churches at the main intersection in the town (apparently)
- It is the birth place of the Mormon religion (Joseph Smiths farm is about 200 metres from where I live).
- It contains four of the worst bars in the whole of North America (it only has four bars in total)
- I live there
That's about it really.

Wayne's World was apparently set in Aurora, where I live. Remember that big stack of "cars-on-a-stick" in it? That's about 25 miles east of us, in Berwyn if memory serves.
We have the Walter Payton museum in the Roundhouse, a great micro-brewery / restaurant / banquet facility. All his rings and awards are housed here. He used to drop by, too. Met him many moons ago, nicest chap ever.
