US Car Rental
Hi, this maybe a stupid question but could some one talk me through how i go about renting a car in the US on a UK drivers license - i have never rented a car before!
What docs do i need? The prices i see on websites–do these include drivers insurance? as i do not currently own a car and not insured myself.
Do i need to book online or just turn up at the airport and ask to rent a car?
thanks for ay help...

Re: US Car Rental
depends on who you rent with and where you rent from, location makes a difference...
Generally UK drivers license will be fine and as you ain't a US resident, you'll probably have to sign up with their insurance, though some credit cards might cover the insurance.
I'd book in advance to make sure you get the kind of motor you want, and also you'll probably be able to get a better rate than just turning up.

Check your credit card to see if they provide insurance coverage -- so do, some don't.
You can purchase "Collision Damage Waiver" or "CDW" which is not true insurance, but the rental company can't nick you for damage to the car.
On liability -- the rental company AND you are liable. However, according to my "PI" colleagues, you would be considered "judgment proof" and not worth going over.

Re: US Car Rental
This probably won't apply to you if, as I am guessing, the 1983 in your user name is the year of your birth, but you should also be aware that many of the car rental companies in the US will not rent to a driver who is under the age of 25,
