Good luck having your L1 removed from your GE profile after getting GC. It’s Mission Impossible. I tried different airports, different GE offices, Nexus office, you name it. Counting down the days to September when my visa actually expires… What does it mean in practice? I always need to see an officer for processing.

I am with you mate!
Got my GC like 3 years ago, changed it online, changed it at Dallas airport thru an agent and at 3 times at Toronto airport thru agents too... never worked.

I think I have gone for GE entry like 25-30 times since I got the GC and only 1 time went thru at Miami, the rest was the same story "See Agent" message on the screen, then photo taken by the agent and had to show my GC when the agent told me I am L1A status.
After that, every time the same, the agent telling me to go online and update it.

I gave up...

I can confirm that each GE machine is set up differently. For example, JFK T4 works, T7 doesn’t. Tried dozens of times. I tried to speak to agent, to GE office, to phone line, to NEXUS/GE enrollment center. Given up. Each time they stamp my passport. They don’t accept the green card by itself. Soon, I’ll run out of space. Third world country.

Re: Update Global Entry for Green Card?

So I am in the same situation going from L1B to Green Card - with an existing Global Entry membership. Here's what I have tried so far:
  1. Called the GE office at Bowling Green NYC - which is very convenient for me. They said they can do it but they have a wait time of 3-4 months for a timeslot
  2. Emailed Newark Airport and asked them how to update - they said I should do these changes online now:

    1. All document updates can now be done online at CBP website Ask a Question under Topic “Trusted Traveler Programs”, followed by “update documents in my account” and “Global Entry” from the drop-down menu. ... If you have any issues with the website, you must contact the help desk – 877-227-5511.
  3. I did this and they seemed to have done something on my account - but on the GE app and the website my L1 visa was still listed on 'View Membership Information' but under 'Update your documents' now had a new 'Permanent Resident Card' section
  4. I didn't think this look right so I went yesterday to Newark in person (after 5PM, they only do doc updates 5PM-7PM per their website). I gave my GE Number and Greencard to the officer who quickly updated it. I asked about getting a Global Entry card (I am driving to Canada next month) and they said to call the service number. I did that today and they opened a case - it'll take 3-8 weeks to hear back apparently. However, now I can see my GC as the only entry doc I have listed - my L1 visa has disappeared.

Not sure if that helps anyone, but that's been my experience so far. Will update as I travel if I have any weirdness. I really want the GE card for next month so I can use Nexus back into the US and skip the Sunday night queue...

Can you do me a favour and try out both JFK T4 and T7 and let us know how it goes?
