Were told to file a request of transfer form
in SF

Re: Update on file transfer from Detroit to San Francisco
OK, sorry, the previous post got sent before I was finished.
Hello,
My file (an I-130/I-485 application) was finally transferred from Detroit to San Francisco. Here is the timeline.
May 24, 2002: File change of address form in Detroit.
Were told to file a request of transfer form
in SF
May 30, 2002: Move to SF
June 7, 2002: File request to have file transferred from
Detroit to SF (reception tells me it is done by
fax).
Was told transfer could take 8 months, and
that no EAD/AP could be issued until file is in
SF.
Was told to check on the transfer every
month (in person) in SF.
Aug 29,2002: I-130 application moved from NE to CA
Sept 12, 2002: Go to check on the transfer
File is in Los Angeles. Place another request of
transfer from LA to SF (this one is done by
computer).
Was told the same thing (can take 8 months
and no EAD/AP until file in SF).
Sept 20, 2002: Contact congressperson because I can not
reach LA myself, and my employer is getting
understandibly concerned that I won't be
able to renew my EAD in October (90 days in
advance to ensure continuity of EAD).
Sept 25, 2002: Congressperson gets bask to me. File placed
on the to be transferred shelf on Sept 20 but
transfer delayed because of audit. Tells me
she will check on the transfer on Oct.11.
Oct 11, 2002: Congressperson gets back to me. File has
left LA on Sept 30. Should arrive in SF soon.
Oct 16,2002: File was received by SF (found that out on Oct
18, 2002)
Oct 18, 2002: Go in person to SF to renew my EAD. SF tells
me that they only renew the EADs in person
within 30 days of their expiration. Stamp my
application with date at reception for the 90
days.
Was told I should receive an interview notice
within the next 3 months.
Oct 19, 2002: Send an nth change of address form, as my
address has not been changed yet
