Yes - absolutely right. Netflix, HBO, the various channels websites - the UK Stuff and streaming files from your computer and you are all sorted. Problem is the misses insisted on us having cable even though I didn't want it. Thing is we have so much TV queued up now I haven't watched the normal TV since the Superbowl (and I could have watched that down the pub).

Re: UK VPN
Will give TunerFree MCE a go - looks interesting as that's one of those little annoyances having to remember to toggle the VPN going from UK to US content.
Have been cable free for a while now, using a htpc + antenna, Netflix, bunch of bookmarks to places like CBS.com, and of course VPN for UK stuff. Don't miss cable at all. One service I haven't yet signed up for is Amazon Prime, although do get ondemand new movie releases from Amazon, especially when they're doing the $1.99 items. Any one have an opinion whether Amazon Prime content is worthwhile ? Are there any significant differentiators from Netflix ? |
