Default UK PENSION

Question is this: My new husband came over to the US on a K-1 visa. We are both over age 60 and he collects a UK pension. He thinks that now that we are married that he can draw the supplement up to married person's allowance from the basic single person's pension.

I think he means that there would be extra money because he now supports a wife. I'm not a British citizen though, I'm American and have never worked or lived in the UK. Anyone know? The answer that came back from the pensions system is vague.

I'm going to move you over to the general USA forum with this; we have several retirees who may have the answer for you.
I'll ask the old man when he comes in from the man cave.

If you need more information to clarify the answer have you thought of calling the Pension Service International Pension Centre on 011 44 191 218 7777. They are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm UK time and deal with UK pensions for expat Brits. I'm sure they can give you a definitive answer without it taking too long on the call.
