Default UK passport question

My son just turned 18 and is coming to the USA in August. As his passport is a few years old and now he is technically an adult would he need to get a new updated one to enter the country?
Any advice is welcome and sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Thanks in advance.

It'll be valid until the expiry date stated on the information page.
