Got nothing to lose by apply for the lottery. Doesn't cost you anything unless you win the lottery, which can take years. Read the requirements to qualify if you do win the lottery.

Just to be clear, if your nurse training was since 2000, you are NOT eligible to sit the US RN exam, (which is called NCLEX, btw).
The old style RGN training that existed before had four parts, adult, nursing, paeds, obstetric and psychiatric nursing. That is the combination you need to be eligible.
The modern UK training consists of just one of those four, and for that reason, is not sufficient.
You would be quicker to train again in the US than to do the child branch, psych branch, and midwifery in the UK, as they are all around 18 months each, and the chanced of getting sponsored to do them one after the other is absolutely zero.


And as regards retrogression, or whatever its called, I had coworkers in the UK who were still waiting, 8 years after passing their NCLEX.
