UK HSBC Mortgage Advice (credit checks)
Hi
im based in the US and have a relationship with HSBC back in the UK- they have a British expat mortgage offer which I am considering to buy a house in the UK.
Has someone already gone through this process before and can provide their feedback or other banks that offer expat mortgages without having to go to a middle man (mortgage broker)
also HSBC have asked me to run a credit report in the US and upload the report - do they not run a credit report themselves ?

Credit reports are country specific - due to data privacy laws in both countries, your US credit records are not included on your UK credit report and vice versa.

I had to do the inverse of this when obtaining a mortgage here for the first time. Had an account with clearscore.com and printed out the "report" and score info for the mortgage company. It's a not a proper credit report, but it is a good show of evidence around your financial behaviour.
