Re: UK girl, US guy, how to make the process as quick as possible?!
Just one more point to consider:
Do you have permission from the son's father for him to move to the US with you? |
Re: UK girl, US guy, how to make the process as quick as possible?!
[Thanks for all the info, one more question,if you pay a lawyer, does this help it go fatser/move more smoothly as opposed to just throwing in the 6-12 month queue?
We are prepapred to do that,I am now thinking of going for 3 months, coming back and applying for an extended visitors visa so we can be together and then putting a k1 on the tailgate so we can get married nxt october as planned! Either way it ****ing suck!I mean in the uk,they let immigrants in by the truckload, give them housing and jobs once there here and they bring over all their illeagal family who (some of whome disrispect and drain the country) Then you get people who have qualifications and money and want to just be with her loved one or vice versa and be happy not do anything illeagal and they make it SO hard... This is already frustating but we will get there! thanks for your help! |

Elvira,
On the subject of the father (or sperm donner as I affectionately call him),he is not present in my sons life,he is in fact french ( i used to live there)and he had nothing to do with us!It will stay that way and we are only in contact by e-mail,he knows that we are going and has not protested,my son has a UK passport and the father is "unknown"on the birth certificate! Anyway,he is not an issue! |

And of course you are legally able to visit on the VWP for 90 days at a time, but just keep in mind using too often can raise red flags at the POE, so don't be disappointed if you do get turned away at some point. Not sure if you will be able to get a visitor's visa if you are free to use the VWP, though. Best Wishes, Rene |

London doesn't hand out B visas for living in the US; do prepare yourself before you apply, so you know what you're doing. |
Re: UK girl, US guy, how to make the process as quick as possible?!
Ok,have had chats with S/O and have decided to treat this visit as it is,a visit,we will come back (my son and I) as planned in jan towards the end,but while in the states will go to an immigration officer and sort out what I need and do it through a lawyer,at least there wont be mistakes if it's done like that!
I read that there is a higher success rate with those who apply through lawyers... So hopefully I can come back in feb again on a VWP and within this time the K1 should be well on it's way,we'll just have to make do and go back and forwards! Thanks for your help! |

From my experience the sucess rate for us so called do it yourselfers is also very high as long as you are prepared to put the time & effort into researching everything. Regards Shepslady |
Re: UK girl, US guy, how to make the process as quick as possible?!
Well,I have checked out 7 lawyer firms who (if paid well,of course)will deal ENTIRELY with the application, like fill it out, send it track it,blablka etc...
So far the 7 I have checked out all have a 100% success rate.I'm sure there is more to it than that, but There was a fact site I saw that said with K1 and 2 applications they had a 78% succes rate and the K3 and K4 had a higher rate but the marriages were less likely to last. Whatever,my point is,If I go through a lawyer, the form wont come back tome 20 times coz I have missed something or missunderstood it and delay my applicaion for another 4 months ! |

PS: do double check about what permission you'll need about the child. I read your reply about it, but double check that. |

The lawyer will only be as accurate and as prompt as you are. Of course he should avoid many mistakes that you might have. I had an extremely complicated case and got through it ok...at least up to AOS and Katrina...lol

There are always people who get around the system but there are a lot of people like you who are genuinely trying to live in another country and who's alternative is a lot worse that separation from their loved one. |

Re: UK girl, US guy, how to make the process as quick as possible?!
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS CAREFULLY AS NOT TO BE OFFENDED!THANKS
I agree, everyone individually has their own reason,I was not suggesting that "assylum seekers" are theiving from the system. English people are just as much to blame for the state of our own frail economy but because of all of the people forcing their way in (not just assylum seekers) they have made it difficult for EVERYONE,not each case is looked with the individuality it deserves,we have allbeen put into a "giant strict sorting trey "when some of us have no intention of entering illegally, draining the economy and or taking the jobs of the natives. I do actually know 3 families who are friends of mine, they all entered illegally and I guess in that situation they have no choice, but they got a house, benifits and (maybe not a colour T.v)but A LOT of help.I just find hypocritical that The UK lets so many of it's own fall through the saftey net and live on the streets and in jepordy but houses so many who are running away from theri own country , I was not being racist far from it,but our country is small and there are too many houses/cars and people as it is. America on the other hand is enourmous,France is enourmous (i lived there) and I just wish they would set up better supprt systems in places where there is room and also maybe some of the richer countries with room to spare should put there hand in their pockets... I dont even know why I brought it up coz it was only going to start an argument,I was in fact waiting for it.but lets be honest guys, there are just over 60 milions people in great britain and about 6.7% of that are "other" ethnic groups. If you think how small our island is,how much of the country is crowded and poluted and that in some schools in birmingham they are making hindu the second language? I mean hello?Alarm bells are not ringing with anyone, certain areas of manchester are "non english" ares where the locals are not welcome.I do not agree with this in any country. The English did this to India last centuary so I guess you could call it "payback time". I think as long as the country can support others and has the space then EVERYONE should be allowed to go ANYWHERE in the world. The thing I disagree with is moving in,bringing 2o people and TRYING to turn it into their country, enforce their languages and religions. We have in the UK one of the biggest mosques in europe...That did not come from the natives! So maybe I sound racist, but if you read what I say carefully, you'll see that it's not, coulor and race have NOTHING to do with it,attidude DOES. I lived in france for 10 years, learnt the language, blended in,obeyed the laws and respected the country.I dont' see many people doing that in the UK ,it's too small too have that many peolple try to change it,it's not what I remember England being anymore,it's a sad place and this another reason I want to leave. GO where you want, live where you want but respect it and what it is and it's culture and peolple! That is ALL I was trying to say, sorry if I ofended you at all! This is JUST my opinion |
