I cant see any of the US carriers launching flights to Cardiff, simply because the demand is being met by Continental from Bristol.

There are rumours that suggest Zoom Airlines will be adding flights to New York from Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff, apparently it is scheduled to be as follows.

GLA-JFK daily
MAN-JFK daily
CWL-JFK 4x weekly

Most of the times we have done this, yes, we have. Since he has needed a wheel chair, they won' tallocate until at the airport. However, biz class (paid) like this, gets great prioirty and we have never had a problem. this will be hsi 8th biz class trip and this is the best deal I've seen.

that's good as BA introduced a new policy earlier this year affecting economy and biz class although not first class pax as mentioned back in the thread. but for wheelchair cases then that's good they have allowed pax seating.

Now I think about it. This actually created a problem. the allocated him a seat (window) which was stupid for a biz class pax that needs a wheel chair. Stepping over another sleeping pax to get out... that's an oxymoron. You couldn't change the seat until check-in (not even calling cust service). Still, they changed it once we checked it so it was OK. Weird rule though.

Since BA do not fly First Class to/from ATLANTA, they sometimes use a plane with first class that gets allocated to biz class. My son keeps an eye when booking as the last time, we got the first class seats. Still Biz class service but the leg room / space all around was AWESOME.... Again, all for about $1200 then + Airmiles.

just so you know the reason they allocate a wheelchair passenger a window seat is should an emergency arise that passenger would not hinder the passengers at the side of them getting out. afraid it's every man for themselves in those instances.

Are you a BA gold card member? We have always found their designated staff extremely helpful.

Even collected my luggage from the carousel when I was travelling alone...I don't know why they did that we certainly didn't ask for it. Upgraded us including our then small daughter several times to first class...can't fault them. :D

yes they are good, i can't fault them being a gold card holder however i'm surprised they upgraded you travelling with a child as they don't like to upgrade children to first class, to club yes but not first class..it's a no no!

You can get behind Birmingham, bleedin 2nd city and all we have is a flight to NYC. These days rather than fly to LHR and take the train to Brum, it's easier and cheaper to go to Schippol (AMS) and 2hrs after the ORD flight lands I'm on the plane to BHX

Like you said, BHX being "close" to LHR is the reason for the lack of US/Canada flights, although if you want to go long haul to the East there is plent of choice from BHX, quite strange really.

If only it was that simple.

I had to book over six months in advance to get any usable dates for our BA Miles flights this summer. Even then, we had to fly out and back on mid-week days. Not only that, but the "tax" cost ~$850 for four of us, so the flights weren't exactly "free"!
