uk electrican needs advice
I am looking to move to Florida (Tampa area) but need to get advice on my job prospects.
I am a qualified electrician in the UK with over 15 years experience. I am after advice, from anyone within the know, on whether I would be able to work in Florida with my existing qualifications or whether I would have to retrain and how long it would take.
All info would be much appreciated.

Try some of these.
Not sure that you would get student Visa for Electrician.
Trade & Vocational schools

Maybe you can find a US Florida version:

You would need at the very least to find an employer who would be willing to petition for your employment. In your classification that would require labor certification. This is really about protecting american workers and it falls to the employer to prove that there are no american workers available with the necessary skills to fill that position. In your profession I doubt if there is a labor shortage, and hence this will be almost impossible to fulfill.
Short of marrying an american citizen, or bringing in around US$1M and employing 10-20 citizens, I can think of no legal route to your living and working in the US.
Have a look at these sites for more details...
