Read this thread: REALLY, READ ME: Want to Live & Work in the US?

Unless you already happen to be a US citizen or you can qualify for one of the visas described in that link this just isn't going to happen.

In the US, the word "power" is likely to get you better results. Here in Kentucky and surrounding states (but not NC, SC, or AZ to my knowledge) the main electric company is AEP - American Electric Power. I'm sure NC, SC, and AZ have something similar whatever it might be called.

..... And even if you did qualify for a visa, the construction business is in the tank (has been since 2008), so there are huge numbers of experienced (in US codes and practices) unemployed people in all construction related occupations, so the competition for work is fierce.

I have no doubt is it, but whether it meets the US visa requirements for a skilled occuaption is a very different question! ..... i.e. almost certainly NOT.

Your skilled trade is highly unlikely to provide you the right to live and work in the US. Unless you have some other path to the US, searching for jobs is pointless.

Main supplier here in SC is SCE&G. Career openings here: -

but as others have said, it's going to be very difficult to get a job. There's also a few co-ops, such as MCEC (our supplier): -

http://www.mcecoop.com/

and finally Duke Energy.

You won't be able to get a visa for this work. It's not an unusual or rare skill in the US. In addition you have no experience with the US codes.

Sorry...

(Marriage is the easiest.)

hotscot means the easiest way of immigrating to the USA is via marriage to a US Citizen. However, I saw nothing in the OP's post that indicates he's in a relationship with a USC.

Canada maybe? Much easier than the US, and it considers trades as 'skilled', unlike the US where you need a degree and a speciality occupation as a minimum!

Good luck.

Yes you are looking for the wrong thing. Look for this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lineman_(occupation)

As a lineman you will also be expected to have full knowledge of telegraph/phone installs. Do also be aware that the cable jointing in the US is usually 30/40ft up a pole and not in a hole in the ground.

Plenty of work around the North East following recent events. Most of the line crews are from elsewhere in the US and subcontract to local supply authorities as & when the need arises.
