UK companies that offer US transfers
I’ve recently been looking into the possibilities of moving to the US, and as I’m sure everyone knows it’s extremely hard!
I just wanted to know if anyone has information on companies in the UK, specifically London, that have ties to the US with the potential of a transfer? I’m completely aware that I’ve made it sound easier than it is, but based on the options there are for moving I feel as though my best bet would be getting my foot in the door with a company that has the ability to send me over there.
I’m well aware this doesn’t happen overnight, but any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to BE.
It would help if you could narrow it down a little…what work do you do, what is your job/position now and how long have you been in that position.?

Re: UK companies that offer US transfers
Hiya,
I work in customer service and I have done for the last 5/6 years, however I do not have a degree and most of my research seems to suggest a degree is needed to even be considered.
I don’t intend to go to university/college and I will continue to further my work experience, so that’s why I’m interested in finding companies with ties to the US.
I also may be venturing into HR, and wondered if there’s any attraction for that?

As JG has said, it will really depend on what you do, rather than who you work for - thousands of companies will have offices in both places, but unless you have specialist enough skills or are high enough up in the company, they're not going to go to the expense and hassle of transferring you. My husband's company transfers a lot of people each year, it's a household name company in the UK, but they'll only transfer certain people as it costs them a small fortune and takes a lot of work. What exactly do you do in customer service, how senior are you?
I'd suggest getting a degree and working your way up if not already exec level (or getting more specialist skills), that way you may also be of interest to a US employer who'd sponsor you (hubby also gets headhunted, almost on a weekly basis, by employers in the US). So you wouldn't just be limiting yourself to multi-national companies that way, and just keeping your options open.
Does it have to be the US? Canada may be another option if you're after North America, and much easier to get a visa for?

It is worth getting a degree. My husband didn’t go to uni. After our daughter was born he went to night school, worked his way through to an MBA. At the same time he worked his way up the company ladder. If you want it bad enough…you can achieve it, but it will take many years and a lot of hard work.
