Default UK car insurance with US license

I want to get insurance to drive my friend's car for a month when I am home in UK this spring.

I only have a USA license. Are there any insurance companies that will give me coverage.

I have a clean driver's record for 30 years. My USA insurance will not cover me.

I tried this company and they said NO www.DayInsure.com [email protected]

A few years ago my father in law was able to put me on his car's insurance for a month while I was over, and I paid him the extra charge. I don't recall the company but have you asked your friend if that is an option for his current insurance? (I provided my US licence details).

We lived in the UK for 4 years, when my wife came over initially she drove on her Yank licence, we were with Aviva, I put her on my insurance and my premium doubled for the year, and we had a 5 series Beemer, not sure if all insurers take a Yank license though

I was able to put my wife with a US license on my insurance in the UK about 15 years ago. I was with Direct Line.
