Turkey Day
So we have been invited to spend the day with some friends at their family homestead - really looking forward to it! Wondering what we should take? Was going for the big bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine - plus some 'UK' Christmas decs as a novelty! There will already be enough food to sink a ship so thats not really an option!
Just wondered if you guys had any other ideas or protocol we should know about!  |

Re: Turkey Day
oooh nice. Me too, my first time for thanksgiving with an american family! I'm thinking of making some of my dad's special cranberry sauce, as it has port and orange in it, and is a bit different to the one you usually get here. Maybe a bit TART though...

Re: Turkey Day
Its usual for each guest to be assigned a dish to take. If you haven't then it seems your safe to take novelty items like English food for everyone to sample or flowers..or both. Check with your friends before taking wine. We have boozy friends who always gladly accept wine but weave also taken wine to dinner invitations and felt a little uncomfortable as the hosts wernt massive drinkers.

Re: Turkey Day
Hi there. Just paying a flying visit from the frozen north. I have a question about Thanksgiving.
I am doing some telephone research this week and that means contacting companies in the US. Obviously Thursday is a write-off. Can I kiss goodbye to tomorrow and Friday as well? I don't really know what happens in the US at turkey time. It's not such a big deal up here. |
